Camp Blood Commentary and Update

 Greetings Readers!

Update: Well with 8 days to go before October I have finally finished the first drafts of Curse at Camp Blood.  I am working on revisions but the story will be ready to go on the posting dates.

Commentary:  The Cast

Before I go into the chapter commentary I thought I'd take a moment and go over the actors & actresses that I picked for my story.  I know I spoke about the character types but wanted to cover each person.

Jackson Fuller: Obviously if you've been reading my fanfics you know that Jackson (and Rocki) are my favorite characters in Fuller House.  This was a given.

Sienna Logan: So while Rocki is my favorite female character until recently she has been my co-protagonist for all my stories.  Towards the end of Operation Afterburn, I decided to start playing with other characters.  Logan Riley Hassel (Sienna) is one that is basically a blank canvas having only made 3 appearances in the show.  She is the stereotypical mean girl in the show so I give her more depth when I use her.

Steve Cunningham (Spencer Bosman): Spencer Bosman is one of four main characters on Disney's Lab Rats.  He is portrayed as the dim jock so that makes his casting for the role of my jock easy (type casting I know, but it works).

Melinda Craven (Paris Berlec): Paris was the star of Mighty Med & Lab Rats Elite Force.  I originally did not plan for her to be a sibling but as I say, my stories tend to take a life of their own, and thus now she has one.

John Craven (Mateus Ward): A villain on Disney's Lab Rats, I always like his character and his acting thus he was cast as Melinda's brother (when I made them siblings).

Victoria Vanderwalt (Bella Thorne): Bella Thorne of Shake It Up and the Scream TV Series.  Bella has played many different character types so I cast her as the spoiled rich girl but she has a good heart where the kids are concerned.

Mike Manning (Tyrel Jackson): Tyrel Jackson is another Lab Rats alumni.  A great actor (IMHO)

Sydney James (Allie DeBerry): This was the hardest role I had to cast not because of the same-sex relationship I put the character in but over the years there are a startling number of actresses/characters that have been "The Cute Girl".  As I tried to diversify the cast as much as possible I settled on Allie DeBerry from Shake It Up and A.N.T. Farm.

Chapter 2:  The Logn Night Begins

This chapter begins with Mike, Jackson, and Sienna at the archery range.  In my last story, I didn't give Jackson a back story on how he learned archery, just made it because I said so.  This time Jackson is learning because it's fun and it gave me a chance to write the interaction between the trio.  Sienna is spending time with Jackson to continue the facade that the pair are dating.  Of course, the more time that she spends with him the more smitten she is becoming (and vice versa).

We then flash forward to some couples time at the lake.  We show the various couples (Mike as a single is watching over the grill for Jackson) swimming and various pairs sunning on the floating dock.

The 5Pm section starts to set the scene for Jackson that something is wrong when John is not at dinner.  The one thing I wish I had written in Chapter 1 was John stating how much he was looking forward to dinner.  That would have made it an even bigger worry for Jackson and Mel that something must be wrong.  (Ah well, no one is perfect)

I then further separate the counselors as Steve is wanting some alone time with Victoria while the other counselors are mindful of what needs doing and are willing to help one another get them done.

Using another classic horror trope (that I used last time) THE STORM.  Bad things just happen at night, or during a storm.  Very few killers are bold enough to do them on bright shiny days unless they can absolutely get away with it (tactically speaking).

Steve & Victoria then break the first rule of a horror movie: You can never have sex (Rules stated in the movie Scream).  Of course, what these two don't know is that the killer has been lurking about all summer and is very aware of their sleeping habits.  Until now the killer has not had the opportunity to enact their plan.

Due to the storm, the counselors take refuge in the pair take refuge in the camper's cabin farthest from the main hall on the boy's side.  The pair have sex similar to a scene in the original Friday the 13th but I do not follow the established conventions of that movie (I have to make this story my own).  Steve leaves a less than satisfied Victoria to go shower.  The storm has died down for the moment and he is all alone.  The killer knowing how short their window is, strings up Steve who is taller and heavier than they are as the killer can not completely lift Steve off the ground even using leverage.  However, they have enough to make it so that Steve can't escape the shower allowing the killer to eventually make the necessary shots to end Steve's life.

We then move back to Victoria who is alone.  During the story, I set up the subplot that Victoria had/has eyes on Jackson (as do others).  She is very jealous of Sienna which is the reason that the two actually don't get along.  Victoria has tried for several weeks to turn Jackson's head but to no avail.

The rich girl is preparing to return to her cabin for the weekend, thinking she is spoiling Jackson & Sienna's sexy time When she hears something in the closet.  Based on John being the prankster she assumes it is something he has been working on since he disappeared.

She soon discovers that the killer has jerry-rigged John's severed head for someone to discover.  Terrified at the discovery, Victoria runs from the cabin in such haste that she does not take any precautions before racing from the cabin.  The door flies open and the killer is standing on the opposite side of where the door will open and stabs where the girl will be just as she takes a step outside the cabin.

Victoria's dying thought is Jackson but the reader is left to decide what that means.
