Camp Blood Commentary

Greetings Readers!

Sorry about missing my update, I totally forgot until last night.  Normal commentary will go up (hopefully) Wednesday.

Chapter 1: Prelude to the Long Night

As I previously stated I was using real dates that thankfully worked out for the goofy timeline we are not given in Fuller House.  One day I will have to post the "timeline" that I've deduced from re-watching the series.

Anyways, We pick up on Friday the 13th which is in the middle of the summer camp season.  We start by further introducing you readers to the cast.  They are:

Jackson Fuller: Protagonist – He is 16 years old and currently single. Took the job for the money and as a way to forget about Rocki. Steve's roommate.

Sienna Logan: The reigning IT girl of Bayview High. As punishment for running up a large credit card bill, her parent has her take the job as a camp counselor to pay off the debt. Victoria's roommate.

Steve Cunningham (Spencer Bosman): The Jock. A high school athlete heading to college on a football scholarship. Jackson's roommate.

Melinda Craven (Paris Berlec): Female Jock. Melinda is kind to everyone but has very little tolerance for Steve. Is the lover and roommate of Sydney.

John Craven (Mateus Ward): Jokester Jake's Roommate and Melinda's brother.

Victoria Vanderwalt (Bella Thorne): Cheerleader. The snob of the counselors. Not as well off as Sienna but makes up for it with a more toxic attitude. Sienna's roommate.

Mike Manning (Tyrel Jackson): The Smart Alec. John's Roommate.

Sydney James (Allie DeBerry): Cute Girl is generally sweet to all of her fellow counselors save Victoria. Is the lover and Roommate of Melinda.

Ben Willis (Adam Baldwin):  The owner of Camp Crystal Lake

I went with the classic tropes in horror although the characters might not be 100k% like the above as the above are from my outline and things change from what I envision to what I write.

A major part of this chapter is showing the growth of such an unlikeable character as Sienna.  We only see her about 3 times in the show and all three times she is the mean girl.  But what happens when you take someone out of their comfort zone?  She has none of her friends, none of the comforts of home, and she has to actually work.  So the change in her personality is warranted.  Not only that but to avoid the horndog counselor she has to pretend to be in a relationship with the one guy that she does know.

As we saw with Rocki, Jackson is infectious.  Rocki didn't believe in labels, yet she labeled herself his girlfriend.  She was abrasive (which didn't really change) but she stopped being too abrasive with the people she came to care about.

That is what happens with Sienna.  The other factor in Sienna's abrupt change was the kids.  She actually starts to bond with them from week to week until she finally finds one that is like the little sister she never knew she wanted. (Note: We are given zero facts about Sienna's family life but given her fashion sense, I tend to write her as very well off.  Someone has to be in San Francisco).

A similar thing occurs with Victoria but her biggest issue is her roommate and the fact that her roommate has the guys she wanted.

We are briefly introduced to the one adult figure in the story Ben Willis after the parents and campers are all gone.  The first thing I do with him removes him (logically) from the scenario.  The object is to make the counselors as helpless as possible, thus we remove the adult supervision.

I do have the owner give his perspective on each of the supporting characters of the story to help flesh them out.  As always I put cast photos on my Pinterest (Look for the blog post with the links).

After the adult supervision is gone the teens begin acting like carefree teens as they are now free until Sunday evening when the next batch of campers is to arrive.  Steve and Victoria are shown to be a couple (although reluctantly in Victoria's case).  Melinda and Sydney are a couple that was completely planned as very few same-gender couples are used in horror.  I'm sure that will change in the coming years but until then, it's a rarity.

John and Mike are shown to be rivals (in pranks) and then we just go into standard character interaction until we get to the point of the chapter.  After lunch, everyone splits off to do various things.  Of course, someone had to go off alone.  This brings in our unseen killer.

I am as undescriptive as possible to try and draw out the identity of the slasher.  The person is cast and a few clues will be dropped as we go but for now... nothing.

Just like last time, the kill orders were based on how I killed the characters but in a logical way so it doesn't seem like the killer is capable of teleporting (which they can't).  John's kill is basic but necessary to begin the death toll.  It is also the only kill that takes place in broad daylight.

OK, see you Wednesday!
