Camp Blood Commentary
Hello Readers,
So here we are, the final part of my Camp Blood Trilogy. I will be covering two chapters each Wednesday as I post twice a week. So without further ado...
The Curse of Camp Blood
So a little bit on the overall story process before I get into the chapters themselves. I created the cast for this story first as originally it was going to be the primary story. I was going to go the route of the Remake Friday the 13th movie where the movie starts with the killer's mother being killed by the initial Final Girl (which was going to be Sienna). Senior Prom was always the in-between story leading into this story.
One of the primary differences I wanted to make with this story as opposed to my previous story (Cruel Summer) was that I wanted a cast almost entirely from Fuller House. My cast of characters (post prologue) was as follows (Photos in Pinterest):
Jackson Fuller: One of only two survivors of the Camp Crystal Lake murders. Jackson is (at the start of the story) almost a graduated senior. He returns to the camp when many of his friends are planning to take summer jobs at the recently renovated Camp Crystal Lake.
Sienna Logan: The original “It” girl of Bayview High School, Sienna is a totally different girl than the one just three years ago. She and Jackson are the school's power couple. Not a primary character in this story.
Rocki Mahan: Rocki and Jackson dated during their freshman year of High School but broke up after the prom incident. She signs up as a counselor for the newly reopened Camp Crystal Lake.
Bobby Popko: Jackson's best friend. The class troublemaker. Camp Counselor.
Lola Wong: Jackson's former girlfriend and friend of Ramona. She has recently moved back into the area and is a counselor at Camp Crystal Lake.
(Note: I invented the last names for the following characters save Brady, I gave him what I am guessing is a new first name)
Ethan Edwards: Former Post-its delivery guy. He took a job at the summer camp as part of a college course. Now dates Ashlyn.
Coco Davis: Sienna's best friend. Despite Sienna's insistence, she takes the job as a counselor.
Ashlyn Neilsen: Ramona's friend. Took the job prior to college. Dates Ethan at camp.
Austin Brady: Former Bayview football captain. Working at the camp for the summer.
Original Characters
Ben Willis (Adam Baldwin): The Camp Owner
Bret Willis (Garret Wareing): Manager, Owners Son
Valerie Warren (Erika Chase): Manager, Owner's Niece.
Gina DeWitt (Lili Reinhart): Spoiled Rich Girl – Is spending the weekend on the lake with friends. Is invited to the camp by Brady who is looking to score. Gina debuted in the Senior Prom story and is Sienna's nemesis.
Todd Williams (Jake Austin Walker): Dee's boyfriend.
Dee (Alexis B): Todd's Girlfriend
Sam Finnley (Hunter Samsone): Camper, a friend of Dee & Todd
Brenda Wyatt (Meg DeLacy): Camper, a friend of Dee & Todd
As previously stated I decided I had enough of an idea to turn the intro scene into its own story. Now we pick up with this story.
The Curse of Camp Blood
Prologue
So the story picks up one year between A Long Night at Camp Blood and before Senior Prom and Curse. Now, this chapter was always planned but the content changed. One of the most important things I do when I tell one of these stories is that I have to figure out who is in each chapter and how a character or characters are going to die. I create a kill count and once that is done build the story around it.
Now in the posted story, I introduce four new characters Todd, Dee, Sam, and Brenda who make the unfortunate decision to go camping near Camp Crystal Lake. Dee use to live in the area and tells the trio a bit about the camp legend. Todd and Dee go walking and end up at the camp. While there they discover that the camp is not in run-down shape, in fact, it looks new. The pair discover that the camp is in repair as the owner plans to reopen the following year once all the renovations and upgrades are complete.
Meanwhile, Sam and Brenda are having sex and Sam is about to propose when he is attacked by a large mysterious figure (you know who if you are up-to-date on the story). Sam tries to fight him off to give Brenda a chance to get away but he is killed and she is caught in a trap.
Todd and Dee arrive and the pair do their best to aid Brenda. Todd tries to protect the two most important ladies in his life but despite the adrenaline coursing through his body, he is nowhere near as strong as the killer. Once Todd is eliminated he then kills Brenda (although it takes Dee a bit to realize this) and the chapter ends with the killer striking a death blow on Dee.
So let's look at what happened before we get into what was supposed to happen.
Sam: Impaled in the upper chest, bleeds out.
Todd: Head crushed
Brenda: Hatchet through the heart
Dee: Machete to the head
Now originally my kill count was as follows:
Flunkie 1: Killed Offscreen
Flunkie 2: Neck Snapped
Drug Dealer: Shot through the head with an arrow
Buyer: Shot through the head with an arrow
Buyer GF: Injured in a bear trap, Impaled through back of the head with a machete
BFF (Male): Crushed against a tree.
BFF (Female): Last kill at the end of the prologue.
I was going to go with the camping scenario but two of the characters in the camping group were going to be drug buyers that set up the deal out in the woods. Their friends would be totally unaware of what was supposed to transpire.
The drug deal would be interrupted by the unknown killer and everyone would die in the order listed above. Unfortunately, I altered my outline so any other tidbits that I had fleshed out are lost to time.
Chapter 1
The story now moves ahead post Senior Prom. This is a slow build-up chapter designed to let you know what has happened in between the last story and this one. I use it as a way to write Sienna out as I did not want Jackson to have a girlfriend at camp this summer. Coco is the character that brings the revelation that Camp Crystal Lake is reopening for the summer to the two survivors of the previous massacre
Jackson and Sienna are still under the nondisclosure agreement that they signed after blackmailing the owner so they can't warn Coco (or anyone else for that matter). Jackson looks online and sees that the camp still needs an archery instructor which he is now qualified for (this will be covered later).
Sienna initially wants to go with Jackson but he manages to convince her to go on the trip her father is sending her on. The chapter ends with an unknown compromise that you discover later (much later).
