Cruel Summer Chapter 1 Commentary

Chapter 1 Commentary 

The Inspiration:  My primary inspiration as I'm sure some of you have deduced is from the Friday the 13th series.  This story went through 3 plot revisions.  The first and third revolved around adapting aspects of Friday the 13th with these characters but putting my own take on it.

The second version was a different murder mystery that unfortunately wasn't feasible with the limited amount of time I had to make all of my deadlines as it is at least 13 chapters.  However I have not abandoned the idea and I will see about revisiting the second plot for early next year after I have finished my Burned sequel.

The Location:  The name and location of the summer camp is taken from... Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives.  Forest Green is the name of the town & the camp that use to be Crystal Lake.  They changed the name to try and make the area more appealing and to throw of the stigma around the name Crystal Lake.

The Cast:  I tried to create a cast of characters partly familiar, and partly new.  Originally it was only 8 counselors but I needed a ninth for storytelling purposes.

The Body Count (so far): 2 

Mystery Girl: Arrow through the spinal cord.

Bobby Popko: Cracked Skull, Drowned in the lake.
