Camp Blood Final Commentary (Finally)

 Hello Readers.

Sorry for the delay in posting this final bit of business for my story.  As the few of you that read this know, I was greatly annoyed by the lack of feedback over my Camp Blood series.  It doesn't bother me that I don't get as many hits as my normal dramas, what bothers me is that I take my time to craft these stories and I only heard from one person regularly and another review from a very busy person at the start but none of the rest shared their thoughts.

As I've said before, your comments are what drives me.  If you are reading the story, let me know what you think.  It doesn't have to be after every chapter (especially when the story is complete) but giving me nothing makes me want to quit writing.  So that is also the reason I didn't complete the commentary until now.

Chapter 6

So the story starts from Ben's point of view as he hasn't joined the others in the hall but hears the music blaring from the PA system.  He goes to see what is going on and we cut to Rocki who is still in shock from seeing Brady and Gina's fate.

The pair witness Lola being thrown through the hall window before Jason makes his presence known to the pair.  He quickly dispatches Lola and engages Ben who seems to get the upper hand until he manages to knock off Jason's mask.  It is heavily implied that Ben knows who this is. Jason knows who is as not only has he been watching the camp all summer but the two were campers during the summer that Jason supposedly drowned.  As such Jason makes Ben's death a painful and brutal demise.

The next part was the hardest for me to write as it was the Cat and Mouse scenario that is typical of slashers and I have never written one quite like this.  I tried to convey how dire the situation was for Rocki.  Originally it played out similar to how I did it in Cruel Summer but as I did it that way (and again for Sienna) I had to come up with something new.

So Rocki starts out hiding in typically the last place Jason should expect her to go, Brady and Gina's death site.  Jason does go in there but because Rocki has done an excellent job of not disturbing the bodies nor leaving any hint that she was on that side of the room Jason does not disturb his handy work as he knows there are at least two more counselors and the scare tactic should alert him to their presence in the cabin if they come in.

Rocki does eventually hide in the woods (again) but logistically it's the smartest place to hide.  She is slowly trying to make her way to Jackson's cabin and she is saved from a grave injury by Jackson who has been working his way through the woods disarming Jason's traps (primarily bear traps).

Outside of his cabin, Jackson uses a tablet to check the security feeds to find Jason which is also the first time that Rocki is clued in that there is more to Jackson being here than she realized.  I also cover that Jason is using many of the techniques that he learned from Mike Manning during his previous summer at Camp Crystal Lake.  I also go into a little bit about what Jackson and Sienna did during their spare time between ages 16 - 18.  The chapter ends with the pair reaching Jackson's front door, unlocking it, and an Ax coming down on Rocki's head.

Chapter 7

The final chapter of the story arch.  Jackson sees the ax coming and manages to react quickly enough to save Rocki from being killed by her own friend.  Once safely inside Rocki is further clued into the things Jackson and Coco have been hiding from her about Jackson's cabin.  The biggest surprise is that Jackson discovers that his "mystery bag" mentioned in Chapter 2 is missing.

Coco and Rocki snuck it out in retribution after Jackson's Dare to Rocki to go jump in the lake naked.  What Rocki didn't know was that the bag contained three 12 gauge shotguns.  Coco admits to taking them and hiding them in the barn which pisses Jackson off to no end as Jason is currently tearing the barn apart looking for them.

Originally the encounter was going to end in the Range Cabin with Jackson Rocki and Coco finishing him off.  I realized while I liked the ending it wasn't harrowing enough if Jackson had access to the weapons the whole time.  I then needed a way to get the weapons out of the cabin without Jackson knowing about it.  As he only had the "Just in Case" it's not like he pulled them out every night while he watched the monitors.  So I inserted the Truth or Dare game to give a reason why Coco would help Rocki (who didn't even know about the guns) hide them.  Coco planned to explain to Rocki when they returned the weapons but as it had not come up yet, there was no need.

Taking the shotgun shells (which Jackson kept separate from the weapons) the trio makes their way to the area where Ethan and Ashlyn were killed.  While Jackson and Coco argue Rocki discovers a fishing line rigged near the area.  The cable serves as a warning signal to Jason while he is in hiding.  Following the line, the trio discovers the entrance to Jason's underground lair.  This is how he has remained unseen for so long.

Exploring Jason's dwelling, Jackson comes face to face with Dee from the Prologue.  Dee is not only not dead but she reveals that the reason she is alive is that she is Jason's younger sister.  Jason realized this before delivering the fatal blow to her head and abducted her as she was his sole remaining family member and because she looks so much like their mother.

Rocki does not trust her but Jackson does and the quartet makes their way through the tunnels to the exit nearest the barn.  Meanwhile, Jason has ransacked Jackson's cabin and found a message Jackson left him informing him that Jackson was one of the two responsible for killing his mother.  This enrages him even further and he goes through the camp again searching for his mother's killer.

Originally when I moved the final scene from the cabin to the barn (good symmetry there, Jason and his mother meeting their end in the same structure) I added the 4th survivor who at the time was not Denise.  Reminder, I mapped out this story before I crafted the original story.  The 4th survivor was originally going to be a look-a-like of his mother (like in the Friday the 13th reboot) but when I invented Denise and made her mother the original killer, well the story just wrote itself at that point.

So Jackson and Denise do their best to hold off Jason while Coco and Rocki go about getting the shotguns.  I did my best to craft a believable scenario where it took Coco a bit of time to get the weapons to draw out the tension.

Of course, once the weapons were in hand the finale is never in doubt.  My Jason is a mortal, not a zombie/Frankenstein so when the doors come open the weapons are locked and loaded and Jason is shot to pieces.

I do let the reader think that something might happen as Jackson and Denise stand watch besides Jason's body.

Epilogue

So originally I was going to make the Epilogue a one-shot but decided to just add it into this story because by this point I wasn't getting feedback so there was no point in going through the hassle of setting up the one-shot over the 3 websites I post on.  It was far easier just to tack on another chapter and be done with it.

My epilogue is a nice bit of family drama as we see that Jackson made it home to Sienna.  The two have three children who at the start of the story are teens.  The two have never told their children about Camp Crystal Lake but the trio has learned about it via a set of movies that detail the events of the two stories.

The three children are:

Michaela Ashlyn: 18 and named in honor of Michael Manning and Ashlyn Neilson.

Ethan Robert: 16 and named in honor of Ethan and Popko.

Sydney Melinda:  14 named in honor of Sienna's friends Sydney James and Melinda Craven

The family watches the two movies together with Jackson and Sienna filling in the gaps that are not detailed in the movies.

I covered the events immediately after Chapter 7 so we see the fate of the greedy owner (or you get a good idea of what's to come).

I then time jump to twenty or so years to the point where Jackson and Sienna are grandparents.  I cover the story of how their children became parents and yes, I gave Ethan Fuller more coverage than either of his sisters but I felt he was the more interesting of the trio I created so, that was that.

The story ends with one of the grandkids asking why they don't go camping to which Jackson promises to do so when they are older so as not to scare/scar them.

So the story ends on a happy note (of course).

Now for your viewing pleasure here is my outline for the series that I worked from and see some of the subtle changes I made along the way:

Fuller House: Long Night at Camp Blood

Overview: 15-year-old Jackson is a summer camp counselor at Camp Crystal Lake. The only other person he knows there is Sienna Logan, the popular It girl at his high school. It is the end of summer and the kids are all gone. As the counselors close up for the summer they begin to disappear, one by one. He and Sienna are the last surviving counselors. All of the staff have been killed off by a deranged woman who blames all counselors for the death of her son. The two successfully stop the serial killer. Unknown to them the death is witnessed by her long thought dead son.

Jackson Fuller: Protagonist – He is 15 years old and currently single. Took the job for the money and as a way to forget about Rocki. Steve's roommate.

Sienna Logan: The reigning IT girl of Bayview High. As punishment for running up a large credit card bill, her parent has her take the job as a camp counselor to pay off the debt. Victoria's roommate.

Steve Cunningham (Spencer Bosman): The Jock. A high school athlete heading to college on a football scholarship. Jackson's roommate.

Melinda Craven (Paris Berlec): Female Jock. Melinda is kind to everyone but has very little tolerance for Steve. Is the lover and roommate of Sydney.

Victoria Vanderwalt (Bella Thorne): Cheerleader. The snob of the counselors. Not as well off as Sienna but makes up for it with more toxic attitude. Sienna's roommate.

Mike Manning (Tyrel Jackson): The Smart Alec. John's Roommate.

Sydney James (Allie DeBerry): Cute Girl is generally sweet to all of her fellow counselors save Victoria. Is the lover and Roommate of Melinda.

Paula Vorhees (Lauren Graham): The former cook at Camp Crystal Lake. Her son apparently drowned in Crystal Lake. She killed the counselors directly responsible for his death. She was determined to keep the camp closed but became ill the previous year and could not halt the reconstruction and opening of the camp. She attacks the camp on the anniversary of Jason's birthday.
